Isn’t it amazing when you spot a restaurant you know in a movie? And it’s also the same when you spot a restaurant that you happened to see in a movie once or twice. Well, there’s nothing wrong with that so, who am I to stop you, right?
Instead, in today’s article, we will be talking about some restaurants that have appeared in movies so that you can go and try them out if you like. Chances are you never noticed the name of the restaurant in the movie, but once you see the restaurant up close, you get a sense of familiarity.

Now, let’s take a look at the restaurants!
Randy’s Donuts, Iron Man 2
Randy’s Donuts is a popular donut shop situated in Los Angeles. This store has been around since 1952 and is also highly recognized by many people worldwide. Most of this is due to the iconic larger-than-life donut that sits on the rooftop and the rest is due to the store’s multiple appearances in movies and TV shows. Of course, the tasty donuts just add to the popularity of the store.
Randy’s Donuts most popular appearance is in Iron Man 2 when we can see Robert Downey Jr. eating some donuts while sitting in the giant donut on the rooftop of the restaurant. Aside from this, Randy’s Donuts has also made appearances in 2012, Mars Attacks!, Earth Girls Are Easy, and more. One of the best things about this is that Randy’s Donuts was even animated into certain movies like Zootopia, The Simpsons (Although, it’s not with the same name), and Futurama.
Bridges Restaurant & Bar, Mrs. Doubtfire
Bridges Restaurant & Bar is located in the heart of downtown Danville California. This place has an urban-casual setting making it the perfect place for a company lunch or family dinner. Guests can enjoy themselves with top-notch food prepared by excellent chefs and the perfect drinks to accompany that food. You are always bound to find imaginative California cuisine blending with Asian and European influences.
This restaurant also made an appearance in Mrs. Doubtfire, and you might recognize it as it is in this restaurant that Robin Williams is constantly changing into his disguise for the family dinner and then going back as himself for his meeting. And of course, this is also where he messes up and accidentally reveals his identity in front of his ex-wife.
The Lighthouse Café, La La Land
The Lighthouse Café is situated on Hermosa Beach in California. It has been around since 1940. If we were to look further into the history, The Lighthouse was opened in 1934, except under a different name, Verpilate’s. Later on, in 1940, the name was changed to The Lighthouse, and it was just a bar.
By 1981, the business was sold, and Café was then added to the name, making it The Lighthouse Café. On May 29, 1949, the club had just started showcasing jazz music, and soon, it became home to the band, Lighthouse All-Stars.
Its appearance in La La Land is not the only reason for this café’s popularity, rather it was often frequented by many talented musicians like Shorty Rogers, Richie Kamuca, Bud Shark, and more. In La La Land, this café is featured when Ryan Gosling wants to show Emma Stone what real jazz is and this is the café where he brings her.
Kansas City Barbeque, Top Gun
Kansas City Barbeque is located in the harbor district of San Diego California. This restaurant has been around since 1983 and just as the name suggests, it is a barbeque restaurant and bar where you can find quality BBQ and service. Being around for so many years has definitely helped the restaurant develop and improve its recipe to perfection. Like most restaurants, they offer take-out and catering services too, except with the promise of bringing the best taste and experience to your home.
This restaurant was featured in Top Gun, and they also take great pride in it. If you ever drop by this place, you will find Top Gun stills from the movie on the walls. The restaurant was featured in two scenes of the movie. The first one was when Tom Cruise and Anthony Edwards play “Great Balls of Fire”, and the second one is when Kelly McGillis surprises Tom Cruise.
Ending the blog…
So, these were four of the many restaurants that are featured in movies and TV shows. A lot of these restaurants are pretty successful on their own, even before they feature in the films. Most are not affected by it, while others gain even more attention after being featured somewhere. It’s not surprising to think why that is so. After all, wouldn’t you want to visit these restaurants as well?
