The fact is that the majority of our thoughts and actions are on autopilot. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing either. Our habits, routines, impulses, and reactions carry us through our lives so we don’t have to stop and think about it every time we wipe our ass or start a car.

The problem is when we’re on autopilot for so long that we forget we’re on autopilot. Because when we’re not even aware of our own habits, routines, impulses, and reactions, then we no longer control them we control us.

Because when were not even aware of our own habits, routines, impulses, and reactions, then we no longer control them we control us. It’s as if we’re stuck in a time loop ourselves, watching main character Colt slay his way through semi-familiar areas in new ways. I can’t get enough of it.

As it turns out, Colt Vahn is an amnesiac who seems to have woken up on a beach with no memory of why he’s on Deathloop’s party island, Blackreef. That’s okay though because someone has left him vague messages in the sky about what to do. Our goal in Deathloop is to take out eight Visionaries, intelligent party-lovers who’ve locked an island into one repeating day so they can piss about for eternity.

The idea behind Deathloop is that if we can take out the Visionaries quickly, they’ll be able to reboot and continue the party and start killing people until there’s nowhere left to party. We’re also told that Colt Vahn has been left a series of cryptic messages in the sky that will lead us to the Visionaries. There’s definitely a connection between Colt Vahn and the Visionaries, because the visionaries are all very powerful.

We start out with a cutscene on a beach where someone says that theyve been keeping a secret from Colt for years. They tell him that theres a Visionary hes been chasing for the last three days. It turns out he isnt the one on a beach and hes not the one talking, but theres someone else on the beach, and shes talking to him. That someone is the Visionaries host, and shes trying to tell him something about him.

The Visionaries host is the leader of the island, and theres a whole bunch of Visionaries on the island that are all the same day, just living in the same moment. As the host, shes in charge of making sure the Visionaries get their daily dose of power from the Visionaries’ source, the World Tree, and the Visionaries believe shes also one of them.

The Visionaries are a bunch of people who think they have superpowers. They have the ability to make the World Tree a living, breathing entity, and can turn any part of the world into a living, breathing, moving, breathing being, just like a real tree. They also have the ability to manipulate the forces of time, space, and causality. They can use this to time travel, and they can also time travel backwards.

The Visionaries also believe that they are the only ones capable of killing the current World Tree, and that they must kill the World Tree in order to stop her from killing all the other creatures. What happens when the Visionaries kill the World Tree is open to interpretation, but it does seem as though the Visionaries have killed the World Tree.
